13 Vital Lessons Learned from the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Reflective Look at the Key Takeaways

Every challenge brings along a book of lessons. Each war teaches us to be a fighter. Every loss shows us that we can keep moving. And every pain proves that we are stronger than we think. Here are 13 Key Lessons to Learn from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

All the problems in our life bring along a seed engulfed in its envelope. It is upon us whether we plant that seed or throw it. The scene with this pandemic is no different.

People are stuck in the lockdown. Everyone is a bit desperate, a bit depressed. People are dying of the disease and of its side effects. Some of the hunger, some deprived of care and some fell prey to their own mental demons.

As such, it is time to take a pause from this chaos and look around to all the lessons that COVID-19 is trying to teach. I am a strong believer in the ’cause and effect’ of every event. I believe that everything that happens in our life happens for a reason. It happens to uplift us, make us better in some way or another.

Here are 13 key lessons to learn from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

13 Key Lessons to Learn from the COVID-19 Pandemic

1. The world can pause

A few months back, we could have never imagined that the world could literally come to a halt. We often pushed aside our personal priorities saying the world stops for none. But it seems the world can stop after all, and we can still survive.

2. Life is short

The biggest lesson that 2020 taught us is death. It’s inevitable and unpredictable. We shall not take life for granted and shall not postpone our purpose for an indefinite future.

3. Family comes first

When everyone walks away from you, it’s your family that stands by. Your friends don’t want you to visit, your office doesn’t want your presence, but it’s your family that embraces you even if you are tested positive.

4. Immunity stood when rest failed

This pandemic has reminded us how important our health is. The virus showed us that our biggest shield is our own natural defence system. Even the top researchers said try to boost your immunity naturally!

5. Love to live

The real purpose of our life is not our job. It’s just a part of our life necessary to earn a living, it should never be more than that. Our purpose is to love and be loved and to live every day to the best.

6. The rat race is a fiction

Cutting out from the office space, you actually realize that life is not a rat race. The promotion, the project, the team and everything else is just an illusion, real-life happens outside the boundaries of your workplace.

7. Materials fade

Look at all the costly dresses in your closet, the fancy watches and expensive shoes, all of them lie lifeless, unable to help you get through this pandemic. It’s just the basic essentials that you need to survive.

8. Ego can be forsaken

Remember the things we did or said in the name of ego? We are, after all, not that strong or bold to walk alone. So, let’s be a little more kind, warm and loving towards each other.

9. Freewill is a gift

Everything we are blessed with we take for granted. We never acknowledged the power of free will, until it was taken away. We realized there was so much in our lives to be grateful about.

10. Every job is important

Every job, no matter how big or small holds its own importance. This pandemic has made us realize this by cutting down our support systems. We realized how important our support system is!

11. Nature does not differentiate

The rich and the poor, the atheists and the believer, everyone is equally vulnerable to the virus. This virus is not sparing anyone based on their race, sect, caste, gender or status.

12. Living under one roof

We may be far by distance, but our roots are connected. And this pandemic is the biggest proof. Something that happens in one part of the globe has the strength to shake the entire planet.

13. The earth is sick

It is a nature’s alarm alerting us about the damage we have done. We get sick when our home is sick. The deforestation, animal eating, global warming all are coming back at us.

Conclusion

While many see Covid-19 as a great disaster, I prefer to see it as a great corrector. It is nature’s way of reminding us of the important lessons that we seem to have forgotten. Life is short, beautiful and meant to be lived with love. We can never be prepared for what the future holds, so be at ease and live life in the present moment.

One of the best articles contemplating the lessons of corona both philosophically and practically. The first para of the article itself took off so well that it left us to finish it eagerly.
Big question is if man would learn these lessons or reinstate his rat race post corona.
Thank you for the beautiful article from the beautiful mind of yours.

Namaste 🙏 Doctor! Thank you for such an encouraging and soothing start up in your writing that actually we everyone should know and realise it. Actually this Covid-19 has made every thing possible which we had thought to be of impossible. This situation seems to be like God himself is giving a human being a chance not to forget what our ancestors taught us and how much necessary it is, we should learn to balance the old believes whether it is ayurvedic or our habits which were taught from past we should never forget them and also not get too much attached to the so called modern lifestyle, everything as its own place which we should know to balance and try to pass on the same to our kids….
