Lack of sexual drive in a woman is quite common. Many women face this problem at some point in their life may be due to relationship issues, pregnancy, lack of libido, psychological issues etc.  But it’s more common than one may think. Women may lose their interest in sex which often creates a strain in their relationship. So, in this blog, I will be talking all about Frigidity in women, how to take care of your sex life!

It’s true! Sexual dysfunction is not only just a male problem. Women too suffers from sexual dysfunctions, though it’s very less often talked in the open circles. Sexual dysfunction is common problem afflicting approximately 40% of women. Failure of a female to respond to sexual stimulus or aversion to sexual intercourse or the inability to achieve an orgasm are quite common.

The common reasons for these experiences are – stress, strain in the relationship, fatigue, past experiences, mental taboos about sex, inadequate knowledge about sex, or some other underlying condition. In most cases, doctors advise counselling to understand the cause of this problems. And in most cases it is treatable!

  • Make your life spicy by adding spices like fennel, parsley, sage, and anise to your diet. These spices are known to boost the sex drive for females.
  • Increase the use of fresh fruits, fresh fruit juices, pistachios, almonds, raisins, figs, and prunes.
  • Dietary items like sprouts, seeds of pumpkin, chocolate, eggs can increase the desire for sex.
  • Ginger is a great aphrodisiac which can increase sexual drive. Boil 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger in 1 cup of milk. Simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes. Add sugar to taste and have this once a day either in the morning or evening.
  • Cinnamon, fenugreek, and nutmeg are warming herbs that increase blood flow in the abdominal and pelvic regions. They stimulate the appetite for sex.
  • A traditional aphrodisiac is concocted by mixing dates with milk and cinnamon.
  • kava kava is a potent herb that can help in treating frigidity.
  • Ashwagandha has been mentioned in ancient medical literature, used to balance the endocrine system in females.

Frigidity in women – The don’ts

  • Say no to smoking, alcohol, tea, coffee, and packaged or processed foods.
  • Go for healthy foods rather than munching on junk and fast foods.
  • Avoid using white flour and polished (white) rice; use whole-wheat flour and brown rice instead.
  • Indulge in a relaxing spa and body massage with sesame oil helps to revive muscular vigour and stimulate the nerves.
  • Get adequate sleep to stay fresh and energized.
  • Take a hot warm bath with relaxing essential oils.
  • Keep a check on the stress levels and take the necessary steps to combat stress.
