AYURVEDIC TREATMENT FOR WARTS

Dr. Brahmanand Nayak

Warts are common, harmless but contagious little growths that develop on the skin. They can grow in clusters or singly; appear anywhere on the body, but the most common sites are hands and feet. They are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) infections. These little developments can go away on their own but that can go on for weeks, months or years. So, in this blog I will be talking about Ayurvedic Treatment for Warts.

Warts are actually very common, particularly in young children. They are rarely painful, but they can be itchy. In most cases, the warts disappear on their own. But in some cases, natural remedies or Ayurvedic treatment can help. It’s safe, effective and a natural way.

A clinical case – Patient’s Story

Jagan is a handsome young boy. He aspired to become a model one day and was crazy about getting a portfolio done. He kept looking for best angles, poses and costumes. The process took several months. During this time, he noticed a wart appearing on his right cheek. He applied some ointment and did not bother about it. After a few days, a few more appeared on his face. And that’s when he got anxious.

He consulted a physician and took medications and applied ointment. The warts subsided, but again after a month they returned with vengence. This time they appeared on the face down to the neck and to the hands. He was shocked to see his body getting covered in these spots.

He was afraid that his dream of modelling will never materialize. So, he started reading about getting plastic and checking other options. A few of his friends dissuaded citing examples of plastic surgery gone wrong. It’s not only expensive but also risky.

Ayurvedic treatment for warts

Jagan walked into my clinic one day and narrated his story and the dream of becoming a model. He couldn’t digest the fact that his dream has been squashed by warts. He wanted a quick-fix solution. The sudden appearance of warts often makes the person anxious.

I first educated him about what it was. The small, grainy skin growths that become rough to the touch are nothing but clotted blood vessels. It is caused by a virus and is transmitted by touch. Children, young adults and people have weakened immune systems are likely to develop warts.

The virus that causes warts is known as papillomavirus (HPV). Although there are more than 100 types of HPV, only a few cause warts. Skin-to-skin contact with people who have warts or touching something a person with warts touched, such as a towel, utensils or any other things can also cause warts. Biting nails also can cause warts to spread on fingertips and around nails.

I reassured Jagan that Ayurveda has excellent treatments for warts. I started with chrmakeela nivaraka and prescribed few other medicines based on herbs. My priority was to control the spread of warts. The spread of the virus was controlled within a few days and he started to experience the magic of Ayurvedic treatment within 10 days.

Two months later he visited me and showed his first professional portfolio and thanked me for paving the way.
