8 Simple Ayurvedic Remedies for Age Spots

1. Lemon

Lemon is one of the best natural elements for your skin. Rich in Vitamin C, its astringent properties help in skin lightening. Squeeze a lemon and rub it on your face covering all the dark spots. Leave it for 15 to 20 minutes and wash off with cold water. Do this twice a day for 15 days and the change will be evident. 

2. Papaya

Papaya is a magic ingredient that clears out scars and lightens pigmentation. A powerful dose of antioxidants, papaya helps in decreasing inflammation, removing dead skin cells, and preventing ageing spots. Clean your face and apply the puree on your face. Leave the mask on for some time and massage your face in circular motions to exfoliate. 

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is an excellent ancient remedy to pigmentation and dark spots. This amazing oil is rich in lauric acid that helps maintain the firmness and elasticity of your skin. It also exhibits anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. This oil creates a protective layer over your skin that traps moisture and keeps your skin hydrated. Massage your body with coconut oil before bath or apply the oil gently after bath. 

4. Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a magic gel that can reverse the signs of aging on your skin naturally. Its rich nourishing properties help in moisturizing your skin and reducing dark spots. Apply fresh Aloe vera gel extracts on your face every day. Keep it for 20 minutes and wash it by massaging in circular motions!

5. Raw Potato

Raw potato paste is a great home remedy for dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Potatoes are rich in vitamins B6 and C. It also has minerals that help in collagen production. 6. Tomato

Tomatoes are rich in lycopene that protects the skin against sun damage. They are an excellent natural ingredient for healing sunburn and work excellently in lightening age spots. This rich red vegetable is rich in Vitamins A, B and C. Make a puree of tomato paste, you can also add yogurt to it. Keep this paste on for 20 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

7. Masoor Dal

Masoor dal is a widely popular home remedy. It is packed with antioxidants that help in fighting off free radicals and reducing cell damage. Make a paste by grinding the dal. This is very effective in naturally lightening your skin and concealing pigmentation marks. It is also a great exfoliator that clears acne, removes tanning and even tones your skin.  Soak a handful of masoor daal overnight and make it into a fine paste using a blender in the morning. Apply the paste on your spots and leave it to dry for 20 minutes. Do it regularly for better results.

8. Green Tea

Green tea has become one of the most common household items. Apart from its myriad health benefits for the body, studies also show that green tea can have a depigmenting effect on the skin. Being rich in antioxidants and other natural nutrients, it helps in arresting the process of aging. Steep a green tea bag in boiled water. Take the bag out and let it cool. Gently, rub it over the dark patches and under your eyes to remove dark spots.
