7 Ayurvedic Tips to get sparkling white teeth naturally

Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is one of the oldest traditional remedies to improve oral hygiene, remove toxins and whiten teeth naturally. You can use 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to swish your mouth for 15 to 20 minutes before brushing. You can also use sunflower oil or sesame oil. This will help remove the bacteria that cause plaque, yellowing, and mouth odor.

Do not spit the coconut oil in the sink or basin as it will result in clogging. You can use a trash can to spit the oil out.

Brushing and Flossing

While some tooth discoloration naturally comes with age, it’s largely a result of plaque build-up. Regular brushing and flossing your teeth twice a day can help prevent this plaque buildup and keep your teeth sparkling white.

Invest your time and money to choose the best toothpaste and toothbrush. It should be gentle but effective in removing bacteria and plaque.

Brush with baking soda

Baking soda is a common ingredient in toothpaste because of its natural teeth-whitening properties. Studies have shown that baking soda creates an alkaline environment in the mouth which prevents the breeding of bacteria. Studies have found that baking soda is effective in reducing plaque, gum inflammation, and bleeding. However, it will not give you overnight results.

Mix one teaspoon of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of water and brush your teeth with this paste a few times a week.

Rub a Lemon on your teeth

Some studies suggest that rubbing lemon on your teeth can make your teeth whiter. It is the citric acid present in these fruit peels that helps in whitening your teeth. Lemon also has antibacterial properties that can help in reducing dental plaque.

Gently rub the peels on your teeth for 2 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Do this before brushing your teeth.

Try banana peels

Banana peels are loaded with essential minerals like magnesium, manganese, and potassium. These minerals get absorbed into the tooth surface and erode the layer of plaque.

Rub your teeth with the underside of the banana peel. Leave it for 10 minutes. Use a dry toothbrush to clean your tooth and then use toothpaste to rinse your mouth.

Rub some Rock salt

Rock salt is another effective yellow teeth remedy. It is a mild cleaning agent that may be helpful in lightening stains. It further increases the pH of the saliva, thus increasing antibacterial activity.

Regular brushing with rock salt is one of the best home remedies for white teeth.

Eat fruits and vegetables

Diet plays an important role in your overall health, including your dental health. Including fruits and vegetables in your diet can help in strengthening the teeth and reducing plaque build-up. Some studies found that eating raw fruits and vegetables with a high-water content can help in keeping your teeth healthy. It also increases your saliva production which helps remove food particles stuck in the teeth.

Here are some fruits that you must add to your diet for sparkling white teeth –

Papaya

Raw papaya is a good bleaching agent because it contains papain enzymes. These enzymes help remove the stains of the teeth and reduce plaque development in the teeth.

Pineapple

Another must-have fruit in your diet is pineapple. It contains an enzyme called bromelain that acts as a natural stain remover. It may help remove the dental plaque build-up and reduce the stains of the teeth.

Strawberries

Strawberries contain malic acid. Malic acid is a natural teeth enamel whitener. Strawberries are also rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C is not only good for your teeth but also for your gums.

Your Takeaway!

White teeth not only beautify your smile and make you confident but they also keep your teeth healthy. Try these simple home remedies with everyday kitchen ingredients to get sparkling white teeth. They are safe, cost-effective, and tested by generations. However, if there is severe staining or odor, then consider visiting a dentist.
