Why should we drink water in copper vessel?

As a child, I was so keen to understand my grandfather’s obsession with his copper vessel. He had this peculiar habit of storing water in a copper jar and drinking it the next morning. It was kind of a sacred ritual for him.

For a long time, I believed the copper jar to be a magical vessel. I thought it turned water into an elixir. Curious, I ran to him with my little glass. I too wanted a sip from Grandpa’s copper jar.

Childhood is so beautiful, pristine, and imaginative. Every night I would sleep with a dream of waking up with magical powers. But when I grew up, the bubble of my fantasies burst and I learned about logic and reasoning.

I went to my grandfather to understand why was he so obsessed with his copper jar. He explained to me how the copper particles diffuse in water. And how that makes the water rich in nutrients.

Ayurveda on Copper Vessel

Ayurveda recommends copper vessels as one of the best-storing pots for drinking water.

In Sanskrit, water stored in the copper vesel is called ‘Tamara Jal. It says Tamara Jal has the ability to balance all three doshas. It is good for vata, pitta and kapha.

Copper releases positively charged ions into the water. Because of this, it enriches water’s nutrient profile and makes it a healthier option.

Keep the water in the copper vessel for at least eight hours for copper to diffuse. That explains why my grandpa kept it overnight and drank it in the morning!

Dear Dr. Nayak,
I have stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease and also too high Calcium levels in my blood.
They tell me that the Calcium is leaking from my bones to the soft organs in my body which
is making the CKD worse fast and my heart is suffering as well, beating too fast.
My doctor said that is because the four glands in my throat are producing too much hormone
and that’s why the Calcium is too high.
I have appointment with a surgeron as they want to remove the glands from my throat but I really
am not happy about it and love the natural medicine instead. Always has.
Anyway this appointment is in September because they are so busy.
So I was hoping that you might give me some advice Dr. Nayak or just suggest generally what you would be doing
in my position.
I would really appreciate if you could do that.
Thank you Doctor
Grace
