Heal with Yoga – Proven Benefits of Yoga

Regular practice of yoga works magic in delaying or eradicating many symptoms of aging. Be it dull skin, stiff muscles, or erosion of bone mass. Yoga is of immense help to increase body balance.

Poses like a crane, tree, and Warrior III help in enhancing body balance. This aids in preventing falls and fractures. Furthermore, yoga improves blood circulation and rhythmic movements. This helps in relieving nerve issues like pain, numbness, cramping, and other symptoms of neuropathy.

Yoga is also a potent pain-management tool for painful diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. Regular yoga practice can aid in reducing joint pain, improving joint flexibility, and soothing inflammation.

Yoga is also a great therapy for chronic diseases like arthritis. Many yoga asanas help in relieving the problems of strenuous back pain. As it helps in building core strength and flexibility in the spine.

Yoga for woman

A boon for women, yoga brings the gifts of a perfect waist and radiant skin. It also helps in tackling women’s problems of irregular periods, menstrual cramps, pain, hot flashes, or hormonal imbalance caused by menopause.

A study at the University of California found that two months of weekly restorative yoga reported a 30% decrease in hot flashes.

Heal with Yoga – Practicing Pranayama

Pranayama or deep breathing techniques are the easiest tools to attain relaxation, combat stress, and increase energy. Another style of yoga named Yoganidra caters to the plethora of issues related to sleep.

Be it insomnia, disturbed sleep, or any other issue Yoganidra offers the best sleeping dose without any side effects. It is a guided meditation that helps in decreasing stress and anxiety.

Studies on the healing power of yoga

  1. “The Effects of Yoga on Physical Functioning in Adults with Chronic Low Back Pain” (2017) – This study found that participating in a 12-week yoga program improved physical functioning and reduced pain in people with chronic low back pain.
  2. “Yoga for depression: A systematic review and meta-analysis” (2015) – This study found that practicing yoga was associated with a reduction in symptoms of depression.
  3. “The effects of yoga on anxiety and stress” (2012) – This study found that regular yoga practice was associated with reduced anxiety and stress levels in both healthy individuals and those with medical conditions.
  4. “The effect of yoga on sleep quality in middle-aged and older adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis” (2018) – This study found that practicing yoga was associated with improved sleep quality in middle-aged and older adults.
  5. “Yoga as a complementary therapy for cardiovascular disease: A systematic review” (2017) – This study found that practicing yoga may be beneficial for people with cardiovascular disease, including reducing blood pressure, improving heart rate variability, and improving quality of life.

It’s important to note that these studies have limitations and further research is needed to fully understand the effects of yoga on various health outcomes.

Takeaway!

Yoga is a vast ocean encompassing several aspects of the human body. It has something for everyone, be it a child, adult, pregnant or elderly. It can’t be limited to a single style but is more precisely described as a combination of different yoga poses, breathwork, meditation, and lifestyle practices that enhance the quality of life by manifolds. However, it is very crucial to get the poses and timings right while practicing the poses and so it is highly recommended to seek help from a trained expert before going solo on the yoga mat.

Very nice article sir. Good to know that great Universities accept and lauded our Yoga for different issues of the body.
I do practice Yoga ies, Kriya Yoga since 4 years. As you rightly said Yoga is a vast ocean! encompasses body, mind and beyond!
In 2015, I was fortunate to meet one of the great Yogis of Himalayas; became His disciple. Many Scietists and researchers dumbfounded about His age. He is beleived to be living morethan 500 years!!! Through His prime disciple Dr Ramesh Singh Chauhan, I was lucky to learn Kriya Yoga. Dr Ramesh is a world famous Oncologist and great Scientist (designed a machine, which produces electricity by chanting Purusha Sukta).
I, along with many Sadhaks, successfully completed four levels of Kriya Yoga. Through continues practice, we get amazing results regarding body and mental health. In many instances, I saw cancer patients become very healthy and are living very normal life. Through Kriya Yoga, we can arrest any diseases and restrict them from spreading throughout the body.
I am seeing, people with great sorrow come to Babaji and Dr Ramesh and go with great releaf!
That’s the power of Yoga!!!
