Eminent authors like Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie quoted these healthy habits that all successful people swears by. In fact, legends say that anyone can become successful by following these simple formula.

1. They wake up before sunrise 

In a survey, 233 wealthy individuals, mostly self-made millionaires, were studied on their daily health habits. Their healthy habits led to the best-selling book ‘Change Your Habits, Change Your Life.’

In the book, the author wrote that about 50 per cent of the self-made millionaires rise early, at least 3 hours before their workday starts. Many of them use the free time to walk and exercise.

According to Ayurveda, when you wake up before sunrise, the predominant Vata dosha remains powerful and active. This helps you to perform your activities with more energy. 

2. They walk a lot

Mahatma Gandhi was a fitness freak. He walked 18 km a day for about 40 years. This complemented with a good intake of fresh vegetables and fruits. Absistence was another important thing in his life.

It was not only Mahatma Gandhi who was a fond lover of walking. Steve Jobs too held his meeting while on the walk. Research and studies show that walking boosts creative thinking. Most artists get their creative ideas while on the walk!

3. They exercise and do yoga

According to the best-selling book ‘Change Your Habits, Change Your Life,’ many of the successful people made exercise a priority in their life. Studies show that working out daily clears the head and makes you feel motivated.

About 76 per cent of the successful people surveyed in the book carve out 30 minutes or more for exercise like jogging, biking or walking every day. Former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru practised advanced yoga each day. Current Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also a big fan of yoga.

4. They don’t compromise on sleep

Lack of sleep is a serious cause for several disorders ranging from diabetes to high-stress levels. These studies have shown that lack of sleep takes a huge toll on the quality of life and health of millions of people.

Albert Einstein preferred to get at least ten hours of sleep every night. You can function well when you are well-rested. Sleep is critical to success, that’s what the successful people say.

5. They eat a lot of vegetables

Many of the successful people worldwide preferred eating veggies. These green veggies are loaded with microelements and vitamins that provide sustainable energy to our body.

A role model to millions of people, former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, was a vegetarian all his life. A balanced intake of vegetables, grains, nuts, legumes, and seeds provide sufficient nutrients.

These essential nutrients keep the mind refreshed and body energetic through out the day. A plant-based diet also helps prevent cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and degenerative illnesses.

6. They spend time in nature 

Studies have shown that if we spend as little as five minutes outdoors amidst nature, it can lead to a balanced nervous system, better functioning of our digestive system, which will eventually lead to higher levels of happiness.

Studies have found that people who spend at least two hours outdoors per week show the greatest benefits of health and wellbeing. Successful people know how this healthy habit can give them a better quality of life.

7. They meditate 

Regularly getting quiet moments and meditating make the body, mind, and spirit strong and powerful. Many successful people swear by daily meditation for setting up their day with positivity, energy, and happiness.

Business magnate and software developer Bill Gates meditate, for about 20 minutes every day. In his initial life Gates didn’t believe in the power of meditation, but over the years he developed a good understanding of meditation.

He now realises that meditation is simply an exercise for the mind. He believes that taking a few minutes out of his day, and paying attention to the thoughts in his head, help him to think with a clear mind and keep him calm as well.
